Against the background of the typological distinction between a historical and a systematic interest in knowledge, the Exodus tradition is examined as a pedagogical narrative. In it, the Exodus narrative is reconstructed in terms of an implicit pedagogy. In this pedagogy, the narrative is performed collectively as education (e.g. via the Passover festival) and individually as Bildung (e.g. via the Sh*ma Israel). The pedagogical impact of the Exodus tradition is unfolded primarily following Michael Walzer's study "Exodus and Revolution". |
