Due to global growth and a raising environmental awareness, today, many scientists, companies and politicians take an interest in the recovery of scarce raw materials from anthropogenic deposits. Other main motives are land recycling and (environmental) hazard diminishment. The tailing pond Bollrich is a moist deposit of mineral processing residues with a high share of valuable material. This article presents a processing route that was developed for the recovery of various raw materials from the tailing pond with a simultaneous reduction of contaminants and residue mass. The main processes are flotation, leaching and selective enrichment with ion exchange resins. |
