Abstract	Der Tagungsband dokumentiert das in Berlin vom Beauftragten der Bundesregierung für die Neuen Bundesländer initiierte "Europäische Kolloquium Produktionsschule", das an Administratoren, Multiplikatoren und Wissenschaftler vor allem aus den Neuen Ländern gerichtet war. Das Kolloquium greift einen in Fachkreisen unbestrittenen Sachverhalt auf: Die Übergänge junger Menschen von der Schule in das Erwerbsleben sind in Deutschland und Europa problematisch geworden. Fast alle europäischen Industrienationen haben inzwischen einen "Sockel" arbeits- und damit zumeist perspektivloser Jugendlicher. Angesichts der Lissabon-Ziele des Europäischen Rates und auch mit Blick auf den Europäischen Qualifikationsrahmen ist dies ein unhaltbarer Zustand. Es gibt allerdings einen bedeutsamen Quell europäischen pädagogischen Denkens und Handelns, nämlich den Ansatz einer Verbindung von Arbeiten und Lernen - verkörpert durch die Produktionsschule. Produktionsschulen arbeiten in ganz Europa und sind eine ebenso wirksame wie überzeugende Antwort auf die Übergangsproblematik. Aber: Es fehlen rechtliche und finanzielle Grundlagen oder verbindliche staatliche Zusagen. Dies gilt für ganz Europa - bis auf Dänemark und Frankreich. Der Tagungsband dokumentiert überdies einen Auftakt: Das "Europäische Kolloquium Produktionsschulen" bot erstmals die Gelegenheit des Austausches über und zwischen Produktionsschulen in Europa. The conference proceedings document the "European Colloquium on Production Schools" in Berlin, initiated by the Commissioner for the New Federal States and directed to administrators, multiplicators and scientists, mainly from the "New Länder". The colloquium raised an issue which is undenied by any experts in this field: for young people the transition from school into working life has become more difficult. Today, most of the European industrial nations have a "base" of young people without a job and therefore in most cases also without perspectives. In view of the European Council's aims formulated in the Lisbon Treaty and in light of the European Qualifications Framework this is an unacceptable situation. However, there is an important source of European pedagogic thinking and acting, which is the approach of combining both working and learning - represented by the production school. Production schools are working all over Europe and they give an efficacious and convincing answer to the difficult transition situation. Nevertheless: They still have no legal and financial basis and they are missing commitments given by the government. This is true for all Europe - except Denmark and France. The conference proceedings also document a start: The "European Colloquium on Production Schools" offered for the first time the opportunity to exchange ideas over and between the production schools in Europe.
