Abstract | Attitude is an elusive construct and yet has a profound impact on human behavior via behavioral intentions. Attitudes formed during childhood can impact the choices we make in our daily lives to be active or to remain sedentary. These attitudes are shaped by evaluative responses, yet the impact of attitudes does not get the recognition it deserves in physical education. This paper explores how attitudes develop, what we know about attitude research, and why attitudes matter in physical education. The "attitudes matter approach" should be deliberately planned to foster the development of positive attitudes in the learning environment. (Autor). |
