Abstract	The report focusses on the biographies of married men and fathers of Turkish origin living and working in Germany [in] the second and third migrant generation. Statistical data show that they are particularly affected by economic and social transformations; their work situation as compared to the social majority is characterised by precarious employment, reduced income opportunities and job insecurity. Yet the models of social recognition are still based mainly on employment, and the gender role models practiced in family's every-day life tend to be little flexible. The article aims to identify the ways in which fatherhood, strained between work and family, is biographical embedded; further to outline the perspectives on fathering developed by the interviewed men.
