| Abstract | The "theologia crucis" is at the centre of Luther's theology. He developed it in the dispute with scholasticism as well as mysticism and against the background of the late medieval devotional practice. The critical emphasis lies on the differentiation from any form of a "theology of glory", which is ultimately not about the redemptive significance of the cross, but about the self-glorification of man. The rediscovery of the "theologia crucis" and its reception in the systematic theology were associated with the theological new awakening of the early 20th century and were combined with the basic question of the specific profile of protestant theology. |
