Abstract	"A growing shortage of highly-qualified labour in Germany has been predicted, yet the potential of female migrant scientists to alleviate the Problem has hardly been considered. They are underrepresented at German universities, esp. in the natural sciences and technology. The present contribution analyses the cultural and normative differences as experienced by a group of women from Eastern Europe working in these fields at the university level. How do these differences shape their life trajectories and career development? Gender turn out to play a much more important role than ethnicity when it comes to their occupational integration into the German academic labour force in the natural sciences and technology."
