Abstract | Have you ever seen people spinning impressive variations of fire circles around their bodies? If you have, you were surely amazed but perhaps you did not know that the origin of this art comes from the Maori - New Zealand's indigenous people. During the last few years variations of poi twirling have become more and more popular in many countries around the world - with tennis balls on strings, sometimes with colourful fabric tails or bands attached to them, with LED balls glowing in the dark and - most spectacular - with fire poi (Orig.). |
