Abstract | What is the level of computerisation in primary and secondary schools in Europe? How frequently are computers and the Internet used by pupils at or out of school? For what types of activity? How is information and communication technology (ICT) incorporated into the curriculum? What measures have been introduced to train teachers in the educational use of the technology? Three years after the publication of Basic Indicators on the Incorporation of ICT into European Education Systems, this latest report uses 35 indicators to appraise the current situation in the countries covered by the Eurydice Network. In order to supplement the data from Eurydice sources on the teaching of ICT and teacher training in the field, this new edition includes empirical data from the PISA 2000 and PIRLS 2001 international surveys carried out under the auspices of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) respectively.
