Abstract | The article describes "how girls and women have been able to access and succeed within the field of education within the Islamic ideology in Iran. ... As a result of IRI's efforts to Islamicize the education system, today's Iranian women display impressive educational achievements: more women than men are entering universities and gaining admission to fields that have traditionally associated with men." They are increasingly involved in the public sphere and the author states that "women's achievement in the field of education is largely a by-product of a deliberate reformed system of education under the Islamic Republic."
