Abstract | "A national-scale literacy campaign was launched in Morocco at the beginning of the 1990s at the initiative of public authorities.... The population groups benefiting from this operation included the peasants of the Gharb, a north-western region of Morocco. That group is the focus of this study." The article describes the planning of the campaign and the problems that appeared during its implementation. Especially, problems of content and method are analysed: an inappropriate approach was applied in the organization of the programme and unsuitable content and teaching methods were used. Finally, the motivations of the participating farmers are studied. (DIPF/Bi.). |
