| Abstract | This paper describes the changes that have been taking place in the education and the educational policies in Poland during the recent years. The key idea of the paper is a protest against the commercialisation of the entire system of education. Mandatory payments and the growing costs of education at every level create barriers to the advancement for poor children and teenagers. In the state policy there is a lack of mechanisms, which would support the educational aspirations of impoverished children and teenagers. In consequence, there is a growing gap between life opportunities available to youth in the particular social groups. In democratic Poland, as never before, material status determines the fate of an individual and entire social groups. Social structure is becoming petrified. (DIPF/ orig.). |
