Abstract | This thesis contributes to the study of "Developmental Tasks" (DT) (Havighurst, 1948) of adolescents of North-African or French origin in Marseilles and Turkish or German origin in Frankfurt / Main. The cross-cultural comparison between young Germans and French confirms the influence of culture on the DT. Youngsters of French origin put more importance than Germans on qualification in school and the preparation of a professional career. For German adolescents, autonomy and peers were more important. The intercultural comparison between youngsters of national or immigrant origin in each country shows cearly, as expected, that the acculturation process in France is in fact an assimilation process, whereas in Germany this process is not assimilating. The results about the influence of the family educational context on the hierarchy of DT show that parents definitely have a role as task givers, if they structure well the educational practices, i. e. apply clear rules.... Finally, we studied the influence of the cultural and family context on the use of urban space. The results show that there are big differences between youngsters of German and French origin on the way they explore urban space. Concerning the intercultural comparison, there were again a lot of similarities between adolescents of French or North-African origin in Marseilles, and more differences between Turks and Germans in Frankfurt/M. (DIPF/orig.). |
