Abstract | Both pupils in the intermediate classes and younger children like to work with the Anna, Schmidt & Oskar language video, for the funny Mr Schmidt (who reminds you of your grandfather), the little girl Anna (who represents the big sister) and the ever-hungry dog Oskar are beloved by children as young as seven years. They are just as curious as their older brothers and sisters to discover the many stories in the film and willingly join in all the adventures proposed to them and, consequently, in the great adventure of language as well. Learning a foreign language through the stories and tales in Anna, Schmidt & Oskar means participating mentally in a cinematic situation, entering into all the stories and tales and thus gradually making the foreign language your own. [...] The Anna, Schmidt & Oskar method can be easily utilized by teachers who do not yet have much experience in teaching German in primary school, especially to intermediate classes.
