Abstract | Including students with special educational needs in mainstream schools remains a goal of education policy in most countries. However, achieving this aspiration is not easy. This book provides up to date information about developments towards inclusion in eleven countries with very different education systems. It reveals the distances that must still be travelled for inclusion to become anything like a universal reality. It is widely accepted that a systemic approach is necessary, addressing issues of policy and practice alike. The book elaborates the requirements of change at many levels of the system. It updates the reader on recent developments and covers issues relating to reform, organisation, pedagogy, external support, and accountability and funding. (DIPF/Orig. text). |
