| Abstract | Forschungsmethode: deskriptiv. "The driving force of new technology accelerates the development towards integrated information management which must concern not only the formalized business and administration data (until now managed by the ADP manager) and the well organized collections of publications (managed by librarians), but also the heterogeneous, scarcely structured and formalized internal documents, such as correspondence, notes, memos, minutes, instructions etc. The responsibility of the CIO - Chief Information Manager and his staff involves overall control and coordination of information gathering, storage, processing, distribution, and utilization in the entire organization in all its facets: hardware, software, management of information resources, standardization, security of information, ect. Librarians and other information specialists have the chance to play an important part in the team of the chief information manager; they must be prepared for their new function by extended and modernized education."
