In the course of the advancing globalization of society, more and more thought is being given to how religious education can promote ethical-moral reflection on global problems. Such educational efforts are usually grounded in the guiding principles of global justice and sustainability. From the perspective of the general pedagogical discourse on Global Education, this article tries to fix three didactical challenges in dealing with these guiding principles and to derive theoretical impulses for religious education from them. Firstly, it is shown that Global Education can stimulate a reflexive determination of the relationship between the normativity of the idea of global justice and sustainability and the claim of the learners to make their own decisions. Secondly, the general pedagogical discourse provides impulses for the equal integration of perspectives from South and North in the religious educational process. Finally, Global Education also suggests possibilities to deal with the enormous complexity of global justice and sustainability issues in religious education. |
