AbstractEach year, "Diverse: Issues in Higher Education" publishes a list of the Top 100 producers of associate, bachelor's and graduate degrees awarded to minority students based on research conducted by Dr. Victor M. H. Borden, professor of educational leadership and policy studies at Indiana University Bloomington. This year, for the first time, it has been decided to expand the tradition by listing the top producers of degrees awarded to minorities in the fields of religious and ministerial studies and theology. The data for this analysis are collected through the completions survey of the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) maintained by the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). These data are collected from all U.S. postsecondary institutions and initially released as a preliminary data set in late March representing degrees conferred during the prior academic year (2011-2012). The tables in this edition, as well as the Top 100 tables accessible through the web site, "http://diverseeducation.com/", show the total number of degrees awarded for specific minority groups as well as for total minorities with sub-totals for women and men in that ethnic group. The tables also include the prior year total along with two percentages: (1) the percentage of degrees in that degree and disciplinary area conferred to members of the target minority group; and (2) the percentage change from the prior year in degrees conferred to the target minority group in the degree/disciplinary area.
