Abstract | Children and adults with disabilities are at an increased risk of injury. Falls are the leading mechanism of injury regardless of the disability status and are even more common in those with moderate or severe disabilities. The setting for the injury differs with the disability status. Compared to individuals with moderate or no disabilities, injury of individuals with severe disabilities occurs more often at home. In this article, the authors present specific examples of disabilities that result in a high risk of injuries. (ERIC). |
