Abstract	Over the past 25 years, the author has had the opportunity to study the subject of solar energy and to get involved with the installation, operation, and testing of solar energy systems. His work has taken him all over the United States and put him in contact with solar experts from around the world. He has also had the good fortune of seeing some of the most sophisticated solar systems ever built. An integral part of his experience has involved working with teachers to bring the excitement of solar energy into the classroom. This article describes the activities he developed in response to teachers who have asked him for experiments they could use in their classrooms. They can use them to introduce their students to the nature of solar energy, methods for capturing it, and ways in which the position of the sun affects solar energy use. He hopes that they might also be inspired to create their own experiments to share with colleagues. Perhaps their students may even suggest some experiments. (Contains 3 figures.) (ERIC).
