Abstract | This article features the Family Child Care Home Education Network (FCCHEN), a groundbreaking program operated by the Riverside County Office of Education's Division of Children and Family Services. The FCCHEN is a network of family child care homes located throughout the Coachella Valley that receive funding for subsidized child care through an innovative grant from the State of California's Department of Education, Child Development Division. This program was initiated to meet the ever-increasing high cost of quality child care, particularly in Coachella Valley. Through this innovative grant, to promote and support quality family child care, a cohesive group of dedicated professional child care providers has evolved that far exceeds the original goals of the program. They have raised the bar to set the standards for quality family care in the desert by providing the type of quality care and education upon which families can depend and count on. (ERIC). |
