Abstract | This booklet presents the 2000 Facts and Impacts report to the Tri-Cities community served by Columbia Basin College (CBC). It provides a snapshot of the college in the late 1990s. Following a message from CBC's president and a list of the members of the Board of Trustees, legislators (District 8), legislators (District 16), president, vice presidents, and deans, the report contains: CBC's mission statement; interesting facts about CBC; a breakdown of student characteristics; charts of student family status and ethnic origin of CBC students for fall quarter 1999; reasons students attend CBC, which include to begin their academic education where it is affordable and close to home, for training and retraining needs, for basic skills education, so that Running Start students can get a head start on their post-secondary education, and for preparing for transfer into a four-year college or university; 1998-1999 student impact, which graphs degrees and certificates awarded; access to classes, distance learning, seniors classes, CBC library, and CBC student services; CBC academic divisions and professional/technical programs; Workforce Training Center; contracted training; partnerships with other organizations; cultural enrichment; physical and emotional well being of students and the community; counseling and emotional assistance; fitness center; athletics; economic impact of CBC on the Tri-Cities community; and the CBC Foundation.
