Abstract | This environmental education guide, developed by American Forests, includes five lessons created to help teachers use "Growing Greener Cities," a tree-planting handbook. The lessons are designed to teach students the role trees and forests play in cities. Lesson one begins with an introduction, several preparatory exercises to orient students to trees and the urban forest, and a set of experiential activities. Each lesson contains pertinent information, including readings from "Growing Greener Cities." Lessons two through five follow the same pattern as lesson one, without the preparatory exercise. The final lesson includes tree-planting suggestions for teachers, students, and schools. (Author/MCO) |
