Abstract | This is a directory of women's media, i.e., media primarily owned and operated by and for women. The mission of this annual publication is to aid networking among women, women's organizations, and women's media, both nationally and internationally. The directory includes two sections: women's media groups, and individual media women and media-concerned women. In the first section, there are listings of periodicals, presses/publishers, news services, columns, radio-TV groups, regular programs-radio/TV, video and cable, film, multi-media, music, art/graphics/theater, writers groups, editorial and public relations, speakers bureaus, courses, media organizations/media change, distributors, bookstores and mail order, library collections, and selected directories and catalogs. Most sections are arranged in geographical order by zip code and country, with an alphabetical cross index at the end of each section. The individuals listed in the directory are voluntary entries, written by the individual. The directory also includes information about the Women's Institute for Freedom of the Press (WIFP), the three principles of feminist journalism, and a radical feminist analysis of mass media. An index to "Media Report to Women" for 1982 to 1985 concludes this document. (THC) |
