Abstract | A Minicourse on Flanders' Interaction Analysis was adapted and re-developed for use in West German teacher training institutions, and evaluated in several studies with pre- and inservice teachers. The Minicourse incorporates the microteaching components of discrimination training, laboratory teaching experience, and feedback. The results of four sets of studies show that teachers can be trained to code classroom events using Flanders' Interaction Analysis System in a relatively short time, but that this discrimination training is only a first step and not effective when aiming at actually changing classroom behavior. For this purpose additional laboratory experience including extended feedback proves to be more promising. (Author/JD) |
