Abstract	Job Sharing--two persons sharing one full-time position--is becoming increasingly popular in the nation's schools. This guide provides information on policies and contracts and collective bargaining implications, based on practices in California, where the job sharing is allowed in 27 percent of the school districts. Provisions of policies and contracts for the following topics are included: the application process, pairing, selection, sharing schedules, compensation, benefits, return to full time, substituting, contingencies, and considerations for future policies and contracts. Suggested contract language for each of these areas is provided; and a model collective bargaining contract is included. Appendixes contain lists of California school districts whose policies or contracts were reviewed for this guide; sample collective bargaining contracts; sample individual employment contracts; California Assembly Bill 3339, which permits job sharing; and a list of publications available from the New Ways to Work Job Sharing in the Schools Project.
