Abstract | The teacher's manual, written in Spanish, is a detailed guide for using the reader and workbook of the same title. Taken together, the three books comprise the second level of a series of supplementary materials to teach reading in Spanish to second grade students. The teacher's guide contains an introduction explaining the series in its entirety, a detailed description of contents, and a list of objectives for each of the 5 to 8 lessons in each of the eight units. It also contains a diagnostic test which includes a list of test objectives, testing procedure to be used, time needed for testing, the test itself, master answer sheets, answer sheets to copy for students, and test record sheets. For each lesson, the guide then notes the materials required, procedure to be used in teaching the lesson, questions to be asked (inserted in the text of reading lessons), and exercises and answers. Lessons include games, pronunciation and spelling drills, grammar exercises, drawing, sentence completion, paragraph writing, and syllabification and vocabulary exercises. Each unit takes about five class periods to complete, not including review. An illustrated glossary also uses vocabulary words in sample sentences. (SB) |
