AbstractPresented is the final report of a 3-year project to establish a prototype program for the preparation of specialists in the education of deaf-blind multihandicapped children. Brief sections cover the following topics: program objectives (primarily to prepare specialists in deaf-blind education to operate in a variety of roles and work in a variety of settings); the initial program (one year of undergraduate study, one academic year of graduate study, and two summers of coursework and practicums); program adjustments, modifications, and revisions; selection of students; program milestones (such as the approval and support of the program by the Bureau of Education for the Handicapped); and slippages (including that supervision of students was not as intense as desirable). In the summary, it is concluded that the results of the program were positive. Among appendixes are a list of competencies and instructional activities for each program goal; a list of professional centers offering services to deaf-blind children; and a list of the job placements obtained by each student in the program.
