AbstractThis is the final report of the project entitled "A Study to Determine the Degree of Relationship between Linguistic Concepts and Structures in French as a Mother Tongue and Stages of Psychological Readiness of Students at the Junior and Intermediate Levels." The project's primary aim was to determine the psychological readiness, with relation to the intuitive and conscious acquisition of grammar concepts, of pupils in grades 4-8 of Ontario French schools. The project report includes: a review of the literature and the theoretical rationale of the project; a description of the design and construction of the "Test de Comprehension de Structures Linguistiques" (TCSL), an instrument created as part of the project; a description of methodology; and a description of final results, conclusions, and pedagogical implications. Following a bibliography, appendices contain: a hierarchy of grammar concepts; results from a pilot study; sample instruments; tables indicating results of the project; and a table for use of the TCSL as a norm-referenced test.
