AbstractThis is the participant's book for a teacher training program in behavior analysis, called Classroom and Instructional Management, and developed by the Central Midwestern Regional Educational Laboratory. Unit 1 introduces the field of behavior analysis. It contains examples of behaviors and provides solutions for changing the behavior. Unit 2 discusses several strategies that are available to strengthen desirable and weaken undesirable behaviors in children. Ways in which planning can facilitate any reinforcement program by focusing on the behaviors to be changed is emphasized in unit 3. Unit 4 shows how to use social reinforcers effectively, while unit 5 discusses how to design and implement a system of tokens to dispense material reinforcers, and unit 6 shows how to use contingency contracts. Unit 7 describes response weakening procedures and how and when to use them effectively. The final unit suggests several skills which can make implementing and managing a reinforcement program easier to accomplish. Exercises and checkups for the participant to complete are contained in each unit. (RC)
