Abstract | Financed and operated under the provisions of a contract between the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, Department of Education, and the Oklahoma State Department of Education, this document describes the Indian Education Program in Oklahoma, which is authorized by the Johnson-O'Malley Act and supervised by the State Department of Education. This 1963 annual report was prepared by the Division of Indian Education. Tables for the enrollment and attendance for 1961-62; the expenditure of contract funds during 1962-63 for administration and supervision, as well as for instruction, lunches, transportation, and other services; the estimated Indian pupil enrollment and attendance for 1964, the enrollment and average attendance by areas and tribes for 1961-62; a financial statement of Indian education funds for 1963; the state contract funds allocated by counties and for special services; and the lunch and special service lunch fund reimbursement for 1962-63 are given. Also, an area map of Indian tribes in Oklahoma is included. The appendixes show the negotiated contract, the 1963-64 budget, the Oklahoma plan, an enrollment and attendance table for 1962-63 by area and tribe, and a high school senior questionnaire. (MJB) |
