Abstract | The trainable child's needs and abilities are considered; criteria for admission to and exclusion from the training school program are discussed. Curricula for children aged 5 to 9, 7 to 12, and 12 to 17 are then reviewed; all are grouped around expressive activities and self care, social, motor, academic, and vocational skills. Also presented are the work orientation program, providing advanced classroom and integrated work experience for ages 17 to 20, and the vocational and homeliving programs. Appendixes treat concurrent work experiences, industrial therapy, music, art, speech and hearing, and field trips. (JD) |
