AbstractA two-part pilot study was conducted to examine the feasibility aspects and problems encountered in the experimentation and adaptation of the portable video recorder and micro-teaching techniques. The effective adoption of these innovations to vocational-technical teacher education programs requires systematic research and experimentation. Study Number One "Improving Inservice Education," proposes that a confrontation of his classroom behavior on video tape recordings will increase the teachers' awareness of the need to modify certain behavioral patterns in the classroom. A systematic analysis of the video tape and the development of competency in specific teaching skills through micro-teaching will facilitate this change. Study Number Two "Improving Student Teaching," hypothesizes that the augmentation of regular method courses with experiences in a micro-teaching laboratory during the student period by the student teacher, cooperating teachers, and college supervisor would improve the preparation of perspective student teachers. The methods, findings, conclusions and recommendations as well as technical details for using the equipment, a bibliography and review of literature are included in the document. (FP)
