Abstract | Introduces a special issue that deals with the relationship between social psychology and the new media. Specifically, three perspectives that social psychology can take when examining new media are discussed. A society-centered macroperspective is maintained to focus on societal aspects, whereas an individual-centered microperspective places focus on the individual. These two perspectives place attention on new media and their users. In contrast, a third perspective places technological aspects at the center of research. The articles in the special issue are then described and classified according to these perspectives. (ZPID). |
