Abstract | The author begins this article by stating that "a number of serious problems have emerged in the education system of Antigua and Barbuda. .. It is no exaggeration to claim that a crisis exists in the country's primary and secondary education sectors." Main problems are shortage of facilities, schools are filled beyond capacity, low morale and high frustration of teachers, low academic standards. "Because some of the most serious problems... can be attributed, in no small measure, to a lack of proper management structures and procedures" the author intends "to provide an overview of the administrative/management system in force in education in Antigua and Barbuda, explaining how this system contributes to the current adverse state of affairs, and then to advance solutions." Administrative and management structures of the Ministry of Education and in schools are analysed. (DIPF/Orig./Bi.). |
