| Abstract | The research/evaluation project on the curricula of the "national subjects" in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in 1999 was a contribution to solve the problems peace education is confronted with recently. In the country "national subjects" that have specific politically socializing intentions are history, geography, social and political studies, civil defense, mother tongue and literature, music and fine arts. The focus of the research was on the politically socializing intentions of the curricula and subordinated to this task there was a look at the "technical" quality of the subjects' syllabi. The intention of the report is to stimulate curriculum reform that contributes to mutual understanding, peace building, fostering of BiH citizenship and enables students from each national group to value all the cultures of BiH.
