This Research-Industry Task Force main task is to coordinate the European activities in the field of educational multimedia. (...) The present report on the situation in the countries includes the government initiatives in the Member States of the European Union. It is an useful complement to 1) the July 1996 Report of the Task Force that provides an overview of the state of the art of educational multimedia in the different contexts of use - family, schools and universities, and companies - and recommendations for a Community action plan to encourage the development of educational multimedia in Europe and to 2) the other annex to this Report, the Compendium of Projects Funded by the European Commission ... . All these reports provide the background information necessary to launch the much needed concerted actions by the European Union, the Member States, and the private industry and key players, with a global overview of the current situation. The compilation of market situations, educational uses and government policies in the different countries included in this report will be of use to all European players in the emerging educational multimedia domain. It will also stimulate the cross fertilization of ideas and the convergence of governmental strategies in this domain. (DIPF/orig.). |
