| Abstract | This article examines the setting up of the Polish Open University with the assistance of Thames Valley University and other European partners in the framework of a three-year TEMPUS Joint European Project to deliver business and management training based on a BBA degree to Poland. The partners from the Netherlands, the UK, Greece and Portugal were to create material for a business and management course, train Polish tutors in delivery and develop administrative systems to support the programme. The author reviews the following questions: "Why has this project lasted when others have ended? What developments in teaching and learning are taking place for the institution to develop its own character? What ist the nature of the institution and work within it in 1997? And what is its future likely to be?" (DIPF/St.) |
