(Orig.). Debated across disciplines - "Intercultural Competence" - is perceived nowadays not only as a highly topical construct but also as a controversial one. The approach to the intercultural competence development, which could be theoretically grounded and practically applicable, remains still in demand. The dissertation presented deals with the development of such a concept in the context of foreign language teaching; it should be noted that the intercultural competence is viewed as the acquiring core competences of students. The author has developed a model (named "Puzzle model") which proposes the theoretical basis of the program (also created by the author) as well as suggests the promotion of intercultural competence (PEIK/ PPIC). The program PEIK represents an attempt to integrate the working methods and work content of the intercultural didactics and intercultural training in the foreign language teaching. Critical incidents, cultural self-reflection and stereotypes being the focal points of the program are worked on by the variety of teaching methods. In addition, broadened through current trends and innovative issues, information on the country deemed as a cultural intermediary is inserted into the intercultural learning content and set in the content processing. The presented program was tested experimentally; it has been proven that PEIK can be integrated successfully into the teaching of foreign languages. The measuring instruments and the results of the experiment are described in detail in the thesis. Thus, the study can be considered as a contribution to the theoretical grounds of the "intercultural competence" construct and to the foreign languages teaching and learning. (Orig.). |
